Festival of Carols

Enjoy the sounds of the season at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, December 10th at 8:00 pm. The “Festival of Carols” includes traditional favorite holiday music as well as new arrangements all performed by the 115 singers of the Los Angeles Master Chorale! And after the performance, children can visit with Santa Claus! Tickets are available online.

 

7th Annual Big Sunday Holiday Party and Sing-a-long
Big Sunday

Big Sunday’s Annual Holiday Party and Sing-a-long is happening on Sunday, December 11th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The festivities include food, music (with a live band), and more. Volunteers will celebrate with special guests (including low-income seniors, kids with challenges, and women and children from shelters, and veterans). Big Sunday will also be collecting donations of toys, winter coats, and non-perishable food items. You can RSVP here.

 

Family Flicks Film Series: The Wizard of Oz

If you need a break from shopping, head to the Hammer Museum on Sunday, December 11th for an 11:00 am showing of the classic film The Wizard of Oz. The free screening is recommended for children six years of age and older. Tickets are available one hour before the start of the film and are available on a first come, first served basis.

 

Annual Winter Wonderland Celebration
Malibu Country Mart

The Malibu Country Mart invites families to celebrate the holiday season at their Annual Winter Wonderland Celebration on Saturday, December 10th (and again next week on December 17th). Families can expect to enjoy the sounds of strolling Victorian carolers, visits from Santa Claus (with real reindeer), and more.

 

Nature Awareness and Safety for Kids
Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center

If you’re looking for a non-holiday activity, then visit the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center on Saturday, December 10th from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. This free activity, designed for children seven and older, will teach children some of the skills that were used by people who used to live here long ago. Naturalists will also discuss trail safety as well as “leave no trace ethics.”

 

2nd Saturday @ The Adobe
Reyes Adobe Historical Site

On Saturday, December 10th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, families are invited to the Reyes Adobe Historical Site for a special fun, free activity. Children (ages 3-8) will be able to participate in hands-on activities and make art projects. Additionally, families are encouraged to pack a picnic, enjoy the playground, and enjoy the site. Docent-led tours of the Adobe are also available.
