Yes, of course we’re hosting Books ‘n Brunch!
(The pandemic can’t hold us back from getting books to the folks that love them!)
This year we’re collecting books just for kids and young adults!
Our Annual Books ‘n Brunch sorting event will be on Sunday, September 26, from 11am-1pm. All ages are welcome. We will need many hands to sort through all the books! And yes, of course we’ll be serving green eggs & ham!
For everyone’s safety we ask that everyone 12 and up is fully vaccinated. Mask and social distancing will be required. The event will be outdoors (in our parking lot) and we are limiting the crowd to roughly 50 people.
We are accepting new or gently-used (let your conscience be your guide) books for kids and young adults only.
Please do not donate religious texts, travel guides, dictionaries, school text books, adult books, or any book with damage or missing or scribbled pages. Thanks.
You can drop off your books at our office at 6111 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, 90038 anytime from 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday until September 25.
Please pull in to our back parking lot. The entrance is on Seward St. We are at the end on the lot. There will be a table there to leave your books.
In addition to the books please include a piece of paper with the number of kids’ books and young adult books that you are donating. (Our goal: 10,000 books!)
We understand that not everyone is comfortable volunteering in person. That’s why we are proving 3 great ways you can help us from home.

In addition to our annual book collection we are collaborating with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Miry’s List to collect 200 new books for newly settled Afghan refugee families and their children.
You can buy the books directly on the wishlist, just make sure you select “Big Sunday (Refugee Books)’s Gift Registry Address” located under “Other Addresses” when you checkout, and we will get the books directly!
