Back to School Week!

Big Sunday’s Back to School Night is going to be Back to School Week this year!

We’re hoping to fill at least 3000 backpacks full of supplies as kids go back to school for a full year in person for the first time in 2 years! Many of these kids’ families have been especially hard by both COVID and the economic fallout.

We’re keeping groups to a max of 50, all outdoors. We’ve done a number of events this way recently and they’ve been a great success, and people have been thrilled to be out and in-person again.

We’ll be doing packing sessions August 9-13, all culminating, as always, with a community meal. (Boxed, this year.) It’s a great opportunity to pitch in and help out. All ages are welcome. Groups, too. (We ask groups to consider a sponsorship. Sponsorships start at $1000.)

We are happy to say that this event is free for everyone!

We can make it free thanks to generous sponsorships and donations. Anyone is welcome to be a sponsor: corporations, foundations, schools, faith groups, clubs, families and individuals. We hope you’ll consider this. Sponsorships are $10,000, $5000, $2500 and $1000. (There are some nifty benefits, too! Contact Berenice at berenice@bigsunday.org.)

Of course, you can also sponsor backpacks at $25 apiece. Thanks for this, too!

DONATE SUPPLIES OR HOST A COLLECTION!

We need a lot of school supplies to fill the backpack. You can purchase items and drop off at our offices or you can use our handy Target Registry. Either way, please let us know how much you can commit to.

Drop off dates are:

Monday, Aug 9th 10am-12pm
Tuesday, Aug 10th 10am-12pm

In the sign-up form, you will see what items we are collecting this year. All items will need to be dropped off at Big Sunday headquarters (6111 Melrose Ave. in Hollywood). Drop-offs will be quick, outside and no-contact.

VOLUNTEER IN-PERSON!

We need folks to help us pack those backpacks! All backpacking sessions will be outside in our parking lot. We will have a maximum of 50 volunteers for each session.

And, per our tradition, we’ll top of our backpack packing with a community meal. (And this year it will be boxed!)

MAKE HANDMADE CARDS!

A fun and memorable opportunity for families, friends and groups to get together and make thoughtful cards that will be placed in each backpack.

Drop off dates are:
