Today, many of our friends and neighbors are concerned about not having enough food to eat.
In fact, USC’s Dornsife Public Exchange reveals that up to 1 in 4 individuals in L.A. County faces food insecurity. That’s 2.5 million people. Recent reductions in food stamp benefits are exacerbating this issue. More and more members of our communities, including working families and college students, are relying on food pantries to avoid hunger. Of course, this places added strain on food pantries.
Big Sunday is proud to once again host our annual 10K in May food collection, aiming to distribute at least 10,000 cans, boxes, or bags of food. It’s an ambitious target, but the challenge of food insecurity is significant. And yes, of course we could use your help.
