Big Sunday Launches New Community Calendar: A 365-Day Guide To Giving Back

The Big Sunday Everyone Helps, Everyone Wins, All Year-Round Community Calendar can now be found on our website. The new calendar has been created to link our incredible volunteer network with worthy social-sector organizations, not just one weekend a year but all year-round.

Long after Big Sunday weekend is done, our nonprofit partners continue to contact us seeking our help. At the same time, good-hearted people are always calling us looking for ways to give back to the community. Now we can connect the two.

The Big Sunday calendar is designed to act like a community bulletin board.

“Our nonprofit groups have needs all year long and the Big Sunday community is really generous,” said Executive Director David Levinson. “We’re confident that people will see a need posted on the calendar and lend hand where they can.” Click here to go directly to our new Community Calendar.

The Community Calendar will feature Big Sunday happenings – everything from our informal informational get-togethers to our application deadlines to highlights from our Annual Holiday Volunteering and Giving Opportunity List. But, above all, the calendar will list our nonprofit partner’s events, needs and volunteer opportunities. You’ll find everything there from toy, food and clothing drives, to pet adoption days to fundraisers. We’ll even let you know about special celebrations – like the opening of a new day care center or park dedication. And if our nonprofits need a helping hand to serve food to the hungry, pack gift boxes for soldiers overseas or to read to kids in schools, we’ll tell you about that too!

We’ll be sending out a monthly email blast to our nonprofits asking them to post their events. In turn, we’ll send email alerts to our tens of thousands of volunteers to remind them to check out the calendar for monthly updates.
